Temtem is a platformer with elements of defense and strategy. The player takes control of Temtem, an alien life form that came to Earth in search of energy. However, he soon discovers humanity makes no sense to him and wants nothing to do with him, so temtem decides to take action and become the only thing we need: food! The game features a wide range of levels where you'll be tasked with securing meals for your hungry populace. As well as 30 story-driven campaign missions that will each teach you about another aspect of Temsnem culture and society (e.g., their rich heritage), the game also includes over 50 challenging bonus stages. The game was developed by two students at New Mexico State University. The game supports Widescreen resolutions up to 1680 × 1050. Reviews of the game were generally favorable. IGN, for example, recently gave it an 8/10 rating, calling it "an easy download that's worth your time." GameSpot also referred to the game as "a fun and addictive space-defense strategy game", awarding it 4 1/2 out of 5 stars. 1UP.com compared the title favorably to Super Meat Boy but gave it only four stars out of five, explaining that while "it has its merits, there's something missing here that sets Temtem apart from other action platformers. It's a good game, but it's not great." Eurogamer was more critical of the title, criticizing its "uninspiring character design", "the dullness of the environments you're contained within", and "the lack of creativity in many of the scenarios i.e. multiple monitors that spawn waves of enemies that attack you head-on." They explained that they felt it was not better than other similar platformers, including the "Geometry Wars series, "Kabounce", and games in which players can design their own levels.
